I want straight teeth but is Invisalign right for me?

We get a lot of enquiries about Invisalign at this time of year as many patients decide to follow up on their new year resolution to fix their teeth and have a perfect smile for 2022.  One of most common questions asked by our patients living around Holloway Road, London N7, is “am I suitable for Invisalign?” As a reputable dental practice we’ll only ever suggest Invisalign as a teeth straightening solution if the patient is a suitable candidate and we’ll always point out all the pro and cons of any dental treatment. We recommend before deciding on using the Invisalign system patients should consider the following.

Should I use a Dentist or Orthodontist for Invisalign?

In order to offer Invisalign as a treatment for straightening teeth all dentists and orthodontists will need to be fully trained in fitting these clear aligners. If we feel your individual case is more suited to alternative orthodontic solutions then we will discuss all options available at your initial consultation. If you’re looking for an Invisalign provider in North London then contact N7 Dental Care in Holloway Road and book your free consultation.

The good news is clear aligners like Invisalign are not only discreet but provide successful outcomes for patients who your N7 Dental Caredentist, recognises as a suitable candidate. Our consultation processmeans you’ll receive expert guidance on what’s best for you and we’ll explain all options clearly and thoroughly so you get to make an informed decision on your dental treatment.

Am I a suitable candidate for Invisalign?

Invisalign aligners can treat most orthodontic problems. These include minor to moderate cases of:

  • Crooked teeth
  • Protruding teeth
  • Overbite
  • Gaps
  • Overcrowding
  • Crossbite
  • Underbite

Invisalign primarily corrects the position and placement of teeth, not the structure and positioning of the jaw. Severe cases of misalignment typically require traditional fixed braces.

To be 100% sure what’s right for you we recommend meeting with your Invisalign dentist in person at N7 Dental Care, Holloway Road, London N7 or arrange for a free remote orthodontic consultation

Why is Invisalign so popular?

As a treatment, Invisalign appeals to many patients and dentists. The system is fast, efficient and pain-free. We’ll take an impression of your teeth, send it to the Invisalign lab where they create a series of clear, plastic aligners (trays) that gently move your teeth into the desired position over a few months.

Invisalign enables patients to remove their aligners while eating or speaking and they’re difficult to see. Some patients even tell us their friends and family don’t even know they’re wearing the clear braces while they undergo treatment. It’s why Invisalign is so loved by older, adult patients looking for a discreet way to straighten their teeth for that Hollywood smile.

More freedom comes with more patient responsibility. Patient compliance, therefore, is crucial for a successful outcome with Invisalign. We recommend patients wear their aligners for at least 20 hours a day. Not wearing the aligners for log enough each day can lengthen treatment time.

Patients who are too young to take responsibility for their aligners may be recommended traditional braces to avoid having to replace their aligners too often.

It’s important to ensure that Invisalign is the best option for you before treatment begins and also to know there are no wrong choices between clear aligners and traditional braces for those who qualify.

Don’t choose Invisalign if you’re not comfortable.

If the words “traditional braces” make you think of giant silver brackets and wires, think again! Traditional fixed braces are much more subtle than they used to beand just as effective.
